I. Submersible Mixer Troubleshooting
Excessive noise is one of the most frequent on-site faults. Abnormal noise not only disturbs the working environment but also serves as an early warning of potential damage. A submersible mixer mainly consists of three core assemblies: mechanical seal assembly, gearbox and motor, which can be inspected one by one in sequence.
1. Inspection of the Mechanical Seal Assembly
The mechanical seal is a vulnerable part. Wear over operation commonly leads to seal failure and water ingress into the seal chamber, which may burn out the motor. Disassemble and clean the mechanical seal assembly, including double mechanical seals, oil seals, output shaft, bearings, housing and end cover. Check and measure the fitting dimensions of the bearing seat and output shaft. If no wear or dimensional deviation is found, the mechanical seal assembly is in good condition and can be ruled out as the fault source.
2. Inspection and Analysis of the Gearbox
Gearboxes are precisely machined and properly heat-treated. After cleaning, carefully inspect gears, gear shafts and bearings:
Gear tooth surfaces are smooth without pitting or scuffing; normal backlash and no obvious tooth profile wear;
Bearings have qualified radial and axial clearances; no pitting on inner rings, outer rings or rolling elements;
Reasonable axial clearance for all shafts. The output shaft turns smoothly by hand without jamming or abnormal sound. If all the above conditions are satisfied, the gearbox is in good working order and can be excluded.
3. Inspection and Handling of Motor Faults
Carry out a no-load test run before disassembling the motor for quick fault localization: Symptoms: abnormal noise and severe vibration of the motor, hissing friction sound at the shaft sleeve, and rapid overheating at the shaft extension within a short no-load running time. This indicates a motor fault. Disassemble for maintenance; direct motor replacement is recommended for severe damage such as winding burnout or bearing seizure.
Summary: Accurate fault diagnosis enables targeted repair or component replacement. Regular daily maintenance effectively extends the service life of submersible mixers, improves operating efficiency and reduces shutdown risks.
