Working Principle
The stainless steel centrifugal aerator adopts a direct-coupled structure of submersible motor and impeller, operating fully submerged underwater. Driven by the motor, the impeller rotates at high speed and creates a negative pressure vacuum zone at its center. Air is automatically sucked into the gas-water mixing chamber through the air intake pipe, eliminating the need for supporting Roots blowers and air duct systems.
Inside the chamber, the incoming air and wastewater are strongly sheared by the impeller and shear disc to generate massive fine bubbles. Driven by centrifugal force, the gas-water mixture sprays outward along the draft tube and forms large-scale water circulation. Fine bubbles stay in water for an extended period, greatly improving oxygen transfer efficiency. While continuously oxygenating the water body, the equipment drives water circulation in the tank to prevent sludge settlement and eliminate aeration dead zones. It realizes dual functions: aeration oxygenation and water mixing.
Core Advantages of Stainless Steel Construction
Compared with ordinary cast iron aerators, key components (impeller, mixing chamber, draft tube) of stainless steel models are manufactured from 304 / 316L stainless steel, specially designed to resist corrosion in wastewater:
Excellent corrosion resistance: Grade 304 stainless steel fits domestic sewage and general organic wastewater. Grade 316L stainless steel can withstand chemical wastewater and saline water with acid & alkali corrosion, extending service life and reducing component damage caused by rust.
Smooth surface & anti-fouling: Stainless steel surface is smooth, hardly attached by sludge and impurities in sewage, lowering clogging risk and maintaining stable oxygen utilization during long-term operation.
Eco-friendly & safe: Stable material without heavy metal leaching, suitable for aquaculture ponds and small integrated wastewater treatment units.
High strength & good toughness: Resists impact from suspended solids in sewage with good wear resistance, applicable to wastewater with relatively high suspended solid content.
Product Features
Self-priming aeration & simplified system: Built-in air suction function. No external blowers, pipelines or valves required. Reduces investment on auxiliary equipment and civil construction cost.
Submerged operation, low noise & energy saving: Fully installed underwater with low running noise. Separate blower room is not required to save floor space. Optimized hydraulic design delivers high oxygen gain per unit power consumption.
Easy installation & maintenance: Can be fixed on tank bottom or equipped with floaters for mobile layout. Lifting and maintenance can be carried out without draining the tank, ideal for renovation projects and emergency water remediation.
Dual-purpose design: Aeration and mixing are completed simultaneously to keep activated sludge suspended, avoid sludge accumulation at tank bottom and reduce dead zones for stable biochemical reaction.
Wide power range: Power options from 0.75kW to 22kW. Suitable for small integrated wastewater equipment as well as large aeration tanks and oxidation ditches.
Application Fields
Municipal wastewater treatment plants: Aeration tanks, oxidation ditches, SBR tanks, aerated grit chambers for biochemical oxygen supply and mixing;
Industrial wastewater treatment: Biochemical treatment of food processing wastewater, slaughter wastewater, printing & dyeing wastewater and other organic wastewater;
Water ecological restoration: Remediation of black and odorous rivers, lakes and landscape ponds, raising dissolved oxygen level, suppressing anaerobic odor and restoring aquatic ecology;
Aquaculture: Oxygenation for aquaculture ponds to improve water quality;
Small sewage stations: Rural domestic sewage, integrated sewage treatment equipment for residential communities.
Selection & Operation Notes
Select power grade and stainless steel grade according to tank volume, water depth, water corrosivity and required oxygen transfer rate. 304 stainless steel is preferred for common domestic sewage; 316L stainless steel is recommended for saline or acid/alkali industrial wastewater. Check mechanical seal and cable seal before startup to prevent leakage. Clean debris at air inlet regularly to guarantee smooth air intake and stable aeration performance.
Conclusion
With increasingly stringent water environmental discharge standards, demand for high-efficiency, low-maintenance and corrosion-resistant underwater aeration equipment keeps growing. Featuring self-priming aeration technology and stainless steel anti-corrosion performance, stainless steel centrifugal aerator has a simple system and low operation & maintenance cost. It integrates aeration and mixing, making it a cost-effective aeration unit for wastewater biochemical treatment and water ecological restoration projects, helping achieve qualified wastewater discharge and sustainable water environment improvement.
